Follow the below instructions
Bike brakes should not be engaged when loading bikes onto an ALTA rack, as they can eliminate any movement in the hub. E-bike straps, on the other hand, should be engaged to pull the bike towards the vehicle, removing any force from the rear of the basket where it is bent.
It’s important to tie down the rack to the vehicle body independently of the receiver, and ensure that the rack is securely fastened and has no play. A loose rack can create forces that will shift the bikes in a way that could bend the baskets.
We engineer our baskets to collapse in the event of an accident to protect the wheels, so the collapsing function is there to safeguard your wheels. However, failure to follow the above guidelines can result in bent baskets.
