E-Bike Ready Racks

An e-bike carries its weight low and central — battery in the downtube, motor at the cranks. A tray rack cantilevers all of that out behind your hitch and then clamps the frame to control it, which is exactly where carbon downtubes crack and painted aluminum scuffs. An Alta Superior holds the bike by its wheels in a steel basket, tilted upright, with the mass tucked in close to the receiver. Nothing contacts your frame, and the rack does not reach further off your bumper with every bike you add.

Every rack on this page is rated for 70 lb per bike with HD baskets and E-Bike straps. But the rack has a second rating that matters more: total load. That is 300 lb on the E-Dub, E-Quattro and 45ER, and 350 lb on the 76ER and OCHO. An OCHO holds eight standard bikes — at a true 70 lb per e-bike you are loading five. We publish both numbers because guessing wrong is how baskets get bent. Our own rule of thumb is to stay 10% under the rated total.

These eight models are pre-configured so nothing is left to chance at checkout. Every E-Bike Ready order ships with HD baskets rated for the load, two Alta wheel straps and two brake engagers per bike, threaded basket knobs, an internal stabilizer, and a locking hitch bolt. The E-Bike straps are not an accessory — they are what keeps a 70 lb bike from working a basket loose, and a basket loaded without them will bend.

All Superior racks require a Class-3 receiver rated to at least 500 lb tongue weight, which rules out most bumper-mounted RV receivers — check yours before ordering. Trucks with tall tailgates (current Ford F-Series, Ram, Chevy Colorado, Ford Ranger, Toyota Tundra) want the XL hitch for clearance; a Tacoma clears on the standard. Vans with swing-out rear doors should look at the E-Dub Lefty, which clears the doors without tilting the rack back. Class C and travel-trailer owners with a properly rated receiver generally land on the 76ER or the OCHO.
