With the Mobile Floor Stand we utilize a 42 x 41-inch foot print to store your ALTA Rack and bikes together in the smallest space possible. Stow your ALTA Rack with all your bikes with the same care as on your vehicle. The rack is centered over the top of the stand to create the best balance and center of gravity. Weighing only 44 Pounds, you can wheel it around your shop, garage, or storage with ease with wheel locks for security. When using the stand as intended, the solid structure will not tip, flex, or fall. Tilt rack back for easier loading, then press forward and lock once fully loaded. Add the HORVER Adapter for a horizontal receiver rather than the default, angled Mobile Floor Stand receiver. The total height with an ALTA Rack on the stand is 71 inches max to top of the baskets.

Fully powder coated for durability in black and comes with five casters that thread to the bottom of the stand (at least 2 locking; up to 5 locking depending on inventory).

Works with VelociRax, Recon, Yakima Hang Over, Northshore, LOLO, and all the other upright racks.

For use with platform racks, add the HORVER adapter to your purchase.

    Unique solution for garage storage. Once I had it in the garage, I did realize that it isn’t practical for in-season storage because if the rack is fully loaded, you have to unload the rack in the reverse order of loading; so if the bike you want to use was loaded first, you have to unload all of the other bikes to access it.

    This saves space in my garage and I love it. Not only does the floor stand provide a compact place to store our bikes in the garage, my wife and I (kids, too) can move them easily all at once because the stand is on casters. Also, without the floor stand I’d be taking up valuable real estate in my garage to store the rack plus the bikes.

    An added bonus I didn’t expect is that it feels to me that the bikes are more secure in my garage on the rack. It seems that the effort of taking them off the rack might a deterrent to the unscrupulous souls who might be passing by, looking to help themselves to our bikes because they aren’t just sitting there. On the rack they are also easy to lock together with a short cable.

    Stand arrived bent which made it difficult to put together as the bolt holes did not line up. Once I got it put together and straightened out, it worked well. I read about this happening to others. Perhaps they should evaluate other packaging methods to help avoid this problem.

    Casters also feel a little small and cheap. The locking mechanism is difficult to use due to small size.

    It makes for a solid stand. Most importantly, it gets the rack out of the way and makes it useful while not on the vehicle. A little more cumbersome to load because the rack is reclined, probably so that it’s balanced while loaded. Another good product from ALTA.

    Only reason its getting a 3 is because the wheels don’t lock and makes it hard to place rack into receiver also moving across a rough cement driveway is not as easy. Having to insert the bolt to tighten it up gets to be a pain when it comes on and off with every trip. The build and fab gets a 5 star but just little things that could be better

    It’s a safe place to put your rack and your bikes. The one signifocant drawback is that it’s not as easy to get the bikes on and off the rack in this configuration as it is when it’s on the car. So it’s not a viable storage option for my kid bikes.

    Not great fit with LoLo. The angle of the insert doesn’t create a decent angle with the LoLo mast. It forces the rack to stick out the back or front quite a ways. If the mast is in the vertical position, it hangs out over the base and is unstable. With a steeper rack angle, the rack hangs out over the front away from the base. It’s unstable without any bikes but once it’s weighted down it becomes stable. Unfortunately in this setup it takes up more room than its footprint. I wouldn’t recommend this for the LoLo rack and believe they should remove the note about working with all vertical racks. When I emailed to ask about another issue I was experiencing with the LoLo rack, the response from Ari was “Not sure how LOLO works.”

    On the positive side- it is solidly constructed and the red looks great.

    This thing is awesome—it keeps my new GPR Six Pack safe and secure when it’s not on my car. Plus, it’s a much better fit for my use case (I don’t plan to leave it on my car all of the time).

    Originally, I was planning to just figure out a way to store the GPR in the garage, but when I realized just how heavy and awkward the GPR is, I decided to go with the Mobile Floor Stand. I’m so glad that I did, because it’s so much safer this way. And despite the footprint of the stand, it actually fits my bike storage setup extremely well (see pic).

    Combine this with the mobility that the casters afford and it’s a ridiculously smart solution—I roll the stand out to the car when I need to use it, and when I’m done I load up the stand right at the car and roll it all back into the garage. I’ve started using a shoulder-mounted moving strap to help me safely mount and un-mount the GPR. All together, it’s much safer and easier on my back than my previous (smaller and lighter) car-mounted rack.

    The floor stand allows for great home bike storage. Built like a tank but still very nimble and maneuverable. In my scenario having the floor stand was a necessity, otherwise storing the rack without the bikes on it would have been a problem. Great solution from a great company.

    Small details matter. The castor wheels are top quality with easy lockout that also limits rotation. That is a nice touch. The receiver is loose enough to get the rack in but also accepts the locking nut for stability. Well worth the money when storage and efficiency matter in your garage.

Bike Straps – Each Rack comes with 2 custom straps per included basket, one to secure the front wheel to the basket, and one to secure the back wheel to the bottom bar

OSP (Outer Safety Pin) – The OSP adds an extra measure of safety to secure the system in place, and allows for the rack to tilt away from the hitch when removed for easy loading and unloading

Tensioner – The adjustable tensioner bolt allows for more or less space for the rack to tilt back. Higher tension equals slower tilt, and lower tension equals faster tilt. We recommend adjusting toward the tighter side for heavier loads

Hitch – Each Alta Rack comes with a hitch to attach to your vehicle. Non-Superior Racks come with a General Hitch and Superior Racks come with an XL Hitch by default. However, you can switch these hitches out depending on your clearance needs

Baskets – Every Alta Rack includes a set number of baskets that cradle the front wheel of your bikes. They can be switched out for different sizes and moved around for more or less space by loosening or tightening the basket knobs below

E-Bike Straps – E-Bike straps are not included in most racks, but are highly recommended for all bike types (especially heavier E-bikes) for a higher weight capacity per basket. They strap on to your bike pedals to put less weight in the basket and more on the top bar

Retractable Straps – Two Retractable Straps come with every Superior Rack for added stability and security for your bikes. We recommend tying down the straps directly to your vehicle (not to the hitch) placed high or low (top or bottom of your vehicle), and angled wide

Low Bar – The Low Bar is an integral part of each rack system, providing limitless positioning for rear bike wheels. The straps on the low bar allow for any wheel size to fit snugly during transport

Gussets – Unique to the Alta Superior Rack, the Gussets extend from the bottom of the vertical post to the ends of the top bar, providing greater support, rigidity, and weight capacity

Gear Hanger – This accessory lets you hang helmets, water bottles, camel backs, and other gear directly on the rack. It is purchased separately and is a great addition for storage on your Alta Rack system

Brake Engagers – Two brake engagers are included with each basket and are generally stored on the basket knobs. These attach directly to your bike brakes to engage them and prevent your bike wheels from moving, creating less movement during transport

Main Beam – The main beam is the core of each Alta Rack. Even after switching out top and bottom bars, baskets, or hitches, it is the part that stays with you to the very end. Comes in awesome colors, too

Top Bar – The long bar that extends from the main beam at the top. It carries all your baskets and is a big player in how we customize our racks. The simple, yet robust design allows for limitless modularity with baskets, accessories, and mounts
