Bike Straps – Each Rack comes with 2 custom straps per included basket, one to secure the front wheel to the basket, and one to secure the back wheel to the bottom bar
OSP (Outer Safety Pin) – The OSP adds an extra measure of safety to secure the system in place, and allows for the rack to tilt away from the hitch when removed for easy loading and unloading
Tensioner – The adjustable tensioner bolt allows for more or less space for the rack to tilt back. Higher tension equals slower tilt, and lower tension equals faster tilt. We recommend adjusting toward the tighter side for heavier loads
Hitch – Each Alta Rack comes with a hitch to attach to your vehicle. Non-Superior Racks come with a General Hitch and Superior Racks come with an XL Hitch by default. However, you can switch these hitches out depending on your clearance needs
Baskets – Every Alta Rack includes a set number of baskets that cradle the front wheel of your bikes. They can be switched out for different sizes and moved around for more or less space by loosening or tightening the basket knobs below
E-Bike Straps – E-Bike straps are not included in most racks, but are highly recommended for all bike types (especially heavier E-bikes) for a higher weight capacity per basket. They strap on to your bike pedals to put less weight in the basket and more on the top bar
Retractable Straps – Two Retractable Straps come with every Superior Rack for added stability and security for your bikes. We recommend tying down the straps directly to your vehicle (not to the hitch) placed high or low (top or bottom of your vehicle), and angled wide
Low Bar – The Low Bar is an integral part of each rack system, providing limitless positioning for rear bike wheels. The straps on the low bar allow for any wheel size to fit snugly during transport
Gussets – Unique to the Alta Superior Rack, the Gussets extend from the bottom of the vertical post to the ends of the top bar, providing greater support, rigidity, and weight capacity
Gear Hanger – This accessory lets you hang helmets, water bottles, camel backs, and other gear directly on the rack. It is purchased separately and is a great addition for storage on your Alta Rack system
Brake Engagers – Two brake engagers are included with each basket and are generally stored on the basket knobs. These attach directly to your bike brakes to engage them and prevent your bike wheels from moving, creating less movement during transport
Main Beam – The main beam is the core of each Alta Rack. Even after switching out top and bottom bars, baskets, or hitches, it is the part that stays with you to the very end. Comes in awesome colors, too
Top Bar – The long bar that extends from the main beam at the top. It carries all your baskets and is a big player in how we customize our racks. The simple, yet robust design allows for limitless modularity with baskets, accessories, and mounts
A Regular Locking Hitch Bolt comes with every ALTA rack. Most vehicles are good to go.

This allowed me to open my driver’s side rear door on my 144″ wb Sprinter with the Three Pack when leaned back. It’s a much better solution than using a hitch extension.

The 6 inch kickout adapter works as advertised. I’m running it on my 2008 Honda CR-V and my wife’s 2019 Subaru Outback (two vehicles with low clearance hitches) with the short hitch option, and it lifts the bikes to a comfortable position. I have a raked out Specialized Enduro, so it hangs low inevitably- this adapter gives me the extra height to make it work. I’ve tested the clearance on different scenarios- quick changes in incline/decline, dirt roads, parking lot barriers- clears it all. Would recommend if you need that extra bit of clearance for peace of mind, especially on low hitch vehicles like the CR-V or Outback.

I have this on my Ford Transit. When the rack is tilted, my passenger-side rear door clears, my drive’s side door does not; I need another inch or so. NOTE: I have an aftermarket rear bumper (by Transit Offroad) with an integrated receiver. This places the receiver 3” higher than stock. I do not know whether the pin hole in the receiver is the same distance from the back of the vehicle as on a stock Transit. In any case, the non-stock receiver may be the reason that even with the kickback I cannot fully open the driver’s side rear door.
I can live with this, but will be in touch to find out whether there is a simple way to gain that last inch. It may be that in the future I go to a shorter arm (closer to the doors when vertical) and a Swinger (to fully clear the back), but for now this is simple.

Couple of items to take a look in regards to the drive side door, is the rack on the final hole inside the receiver, also with bikes on the flex of the rack usually helps clear the driver door. The rack does clear the door when installed on the swinger, because it is lowered.
