It is sad to see companies like Black Diamond shutting down manufacturing in Utah. Cost savings, is one thing. However, the cause of departure according to the interview is lack of innovative technology within the State. Even within the country. Lip service is fine, what we don’t see is a push towards technological advancement in the manufacturing sector, and personnel training. Maybe instead giving AMAZON, Google, and other giant companies 10 year tax breaks we can spend the money on the people, process, and ultimately profit. The formula for retaining is cheaper than bringing in new business. Most states have developmental programs to bring in new businesses, but they lack the infrastructure and the will to retain existing businesses.
Building bike racks in Utah has been a joy and a challenge. We are proud to able to manufacture our products in the USA. Alta Racks goal is to provide our operators with exceptional customer service and product support.
