Product Warranty

ALTA Racks warranty is for original purchaser of the products and will not be transferred.

Our lifetime warranty covers all manufacturer and material defects. This may include:

• Broken welds
• Material fractures
• Other issues that may have arisen during the production process
• bad or insufficient fabrication

This lifetime warranty also provides low cost replacement and upgrade solutions for the original buyer, when the products have not been voided by misuse. We cover shipping on warrantied products being returned for any of the circumstances mentioned above within the first year of purchase. This is limited to the US only.

We proudly provide lifetime support for all Alta Rack owners and will be happy to help you with any questions or concerns you might have. We design and build new features and product to be backwards compatible with most of our racks. 

Bent baskets, low bars or other components are not covered under warranty. As with most high-quality, products we ensure thru our QA process that the products you are receiving is in perfect condition. If that is not the case please contact us immediately after or before assembly.  We aim to provide the best possible customer experience possible. 

We have over 10 years of data at this point as to what bends baskets, or other parts of the rack. Our baskets and low bars are designed with crumple zone built in to them, that means in case of accident they are designed to collapse to save the wheel to the extent possible. • Running e bikes without an e bike strap
• rough road driving with strapping the rack back to the vehicle, specially washboard roads
• not engaging the brakes on the bikes
• Running the rack on a vehicle, RV, trailer, or any other platform that is not correctly rated as stated on our site
• movement in the rack that creates a whipping on top. 
• Running heavy bikes on non HD baskets
• incorrect rack installation or assembly
• Running our racks on other Swing outs
  • warranty will be void for broken baskets

We do highly recommended specific practices to maintain your ALTA Baskets. Our regular baskets by themselves are designed to carry bicycles up to 50 pounds or lighter on smooth paved roads. However, if you travel on dirt or unimproved roads, no matter how smooth, the tie down system and brakes must be engaged to prevent your baskets from bending due to the added forces at play. We highly recommend E-bike straps for bikes 40lbs and over to further mitigate this.

Running our racks on third party swing outs is discouraged, we build specific products with complementary systems that work together, and provide one of the highest capacity systems available. Tolerances are key to such performance. We trust your judgement that the swing out you would like to use is super heavy duty and that you see no issues using it, we have not tested them and cant make the same conclusion. We just want to let you know that we will not cover the warranty on your baskets if you run our rack on those products. 

Continuous damage to the same part, is usually sign of a incorrectly assembled rack, rack not used with correct stabilizer, rack is installed on a non compliant receiver (or product), or abuse. We reserve the right to deny your continuous warranty claim in the case we determine such event. 

Additionally, several products, including add-ons and powder coating, have a limited warranty. Please refer to the table below for a list of these items:

The following items and actions will VOID our lifetime warranty:

• Operating any Alta Rack without the Outer Safety Pin (OSP) being correctly engaged, without a Hitch Pin correctly installed, and/or without an internal and external Hitch Stabilizer correctly installed. This will result in excessive moement in the rack and can cause damage to bikes and rack.

• Modifying or altering the warrantied products in any way outside of the original manufacturing process (aftermarket manufacturing, parts, coating, etc.)
• Continously damaging the same part for over 3 consecetive years, we reseve the right to void your warranty or reject certain requests.

ALTA will remedy defects in materials and/or workmanship by repairing or replacing at no cost to the customer, subject to limitation. ALTA can choose to not repair or replace the product and issue a refund. Either a refund equal to the purchase price paid for the product or a credit to be used toward the purchase of new ALTA products or rack components can be issued.
